About

Hi everyone,

I’m Maitraya Kanta Bhattacharyya, but you can call me mingo if you want to. I live in India and am a student of Calcutta Boys’ School, Kolkata. I took interest in open source when I was only thirteen and have been using Ubuntu since then. Then, I visited Richard Stallman’s personal blog and his page on Wikipedia and was inspired by his lectures. This made me support the GNU movement for software freedom. Now, I run Kubuntu and gNewSense on my desktop. I contribute to the Ubuntu project almost regularly at Launchpad (www.launchpad.net/ubuntu) along with other projects on Launchpad (like SchoolTool). I am a member of the Ubuntu Indian Local team, Ubuntu bugsquad, Ubuntu Artwork, Community documentation, Ubuntu translations (I localize Ubuntu into Bengali regularly). And you can help us too. Just goto Launchpad.net , create your free account and start contributing!!! And yes, I contribute to Wikipedia too!!! It’s fun to help people out there by improving a huge encyclopedia!!!

OpenFreedom has been created with the aim of providing you with the best of free softwares along with all the information you need to know about GNU/Linux operating systems. And if you are really bored, just visit the fun stuff section. It does not matter if you are new to GNU/Linux, you’ll do just fine. And its not difficult to move to GNU/Linux from any proprietary operating system. Once you embrace open-source, you know of its benefits.

So go ahead, and browse my blog!!! 🙂
